Psychogenic Alopecia in cats..any info?
Has anyone ever dealt with this or have any info on it? I believe that this is what is going on with my cat. She has pulled out and licked off the fur on her belly and insides of her legs. She's always been a nervous cat... I cannot take her to the vet right now for all the testing to rule out other things. I truly believe it is stress! She has no redness, fleas, mites, bumps, sick acting anything going on.

Bengal cat with psychogenic alopecia?
My bengal cat has psychogenic alopecia. She has been to the vet and checked over, and she chews her fur and excessively cleans due to stress. She has been doing it on and off for a while, but it has been worse since I've moved into a new apartment with my girlfriend and her cat. Does anyone know how to treat this? I have tried the feliway air sprays and that doesn't work well. I have given her a lot of attention and it isn't helping. She also likes the taste of the bitter sprays which are supposed to be deterrents. Anyone else have any solutions or have dealt with this problem? She has such nice fur, but she has chewed quite a bit. The vet suggested that I DO NOT put her on anxiety meds. I want real answers, not from 10 year olds or crazy people telling me to rush her back to the vet. She is perfectly healthy and was thoroughly checked by a vet. One more thing is she does try to escape the apartment a lot, but I'm not sure if that's due to her loving the outside (The few times shes been out) or just wanting to escape. She does have a good relationship with the other cat, though they didn't get along at first. Though they are not best friends at this point.... Any help would be greatly appreciated... NO BS answers please.... Thanks to all who've answered, but I am aware of the tendencies of the bengal as I have had her for almost 5 years and my brother has one. I have done my research on these cats and the breeders, hence the reason why I bought her. I would rather NOT take her outside as she tries to escape. She has tried to escape at least 5 times a week since I've had her. I'd like to limit her time outside. Has anyone had any results with a different type of diffuser or spray?

Clomicalm and its use in cats?
My vet just diagnosed my six year old cat with psychogenic alopecia (obsessive over grooming). Stress from moving two years ago has caused her to groom herself bald on her legs and abdomen. He prescribed clomicalm and once her hair grows back in and I get her on another routine of playing, she can get weaned off. My question is, does anyone know how long the drug stays in the system. She is on 5mg once daily, but while she is on it, she just lays around all day. she wont eat or even use the litter box. If this is something that lasts at most 12 hours I can give it to her at night so she at least can play and eat during the day. Let me know if anyone has had any success with the drug and if you know anything about the side effects. I know she is supposed to become adjusted to it within a couple of days.
