Male Pattern Baldness Remedy

Prevent BaldnessA staggering 25% of men in their early 20s are affected by baldness. This medical condition affects 2/3 of all men once they reach 60 years of age. Male pattern baldness does not have any side effects apart from the hair loss and thus is referred by many as a cosmetic medical condition but the sufferers face devastating psychological and social consequences. The treatment of baldness in men has been in use for many years. For instance, Ancient Egyptians used pigeon droppings as a remedy of baldness and in the early 20th Century, electro-shock treatment came into existence which was used in the treatment of the scalp. For several years, mankind had been on the lookout for any possible cure of baldness.

However, it was not until recently that the actual cause of baldness was known and from this, the male pattern baldness remedy came into existence. Baldness is a medical condition that occurs as a result of a gene in the body that is responsible for the conversion of large quantities of testosterone into DHT (Dihydrotestosterone). The DHT hormone is helpful during fetal development but it is not that good for the hair follicles as they cause them to become shrunken and damaged. The hair follicle grows for five years and they become stagnant. What causes baldness is the follicles that are damaged fall out and are not replaced by new ones. This is the reason why male baldness is gradual and irreversible and it is more in the later stages.

Male pattern baldness remedies range from the surgical FDA to medicinal treatments and has been approved by medications like Rogaine and Propecia. These types of medications are well known because they can offer effective short time hair loss relief and have been around for several years. Rogaine is one of the best male pattern baldness remedies and has been proven to provide effective solutions for baldness in that it is responsible for helping follicles to regrow but does not work for every one because it works for only 60% of the users. On the other hand, Propecia is another equally important remedy for baldness as it is very helpful in stemming the hairs that are still existing but it is more effective when used in the early stages of hair loss and baldness. One set back to the two medications is that they are temporary in nature and their effectiveness will stop once the user stops using them and thus they are temporary hair loss treatments.

One of the most effective hair loss treatments which stands the test of time is hair transplantation. This revolution in the hair restoration industry is one that is seen as the only way to provide permanent solutions for hair loss and baldness. The amount of follicles that can be transplanted from a healthy area of the scalp of the donor to the section that is suffering from baldness is seen as a breakthrough in the hair restoration industry.

Is there anything I can do to prevent baldness before it starts to happen?
I'm 18 and my brother is in his mid-twenties (started balding around 20) and now has very little hair left. I was thinking it would be a good idea to take action to prevent rather than fight this unavoidable family trait. Anybody know of something?
