Why am I losing hair at the age of 18?
I'm an 18 year old guy and I have a hair loss problem. I don't know what the correct term here is, is it balding or thinning? I'm losing hair at the top of my scalp and at the sides. However the hair on the back of my head is normal. You can actually see the skin of my scalp. This problem started when I was 16. At that time I lost a lot of hair and it went on for about 2 months I think. Then all of a sudden, it stopped and my hair grew back thick again. Then again when I was 17, it started again. I workout 6 days a week, and my diet is really good. I am not overweight, however I used to be a little fat, but I burned off this fat when I turned 17 and started working out. Now I'm thin. Could that have something to do with the hairfall? I drink lots of water too - about 3 litres a day. When my hairfall had just started, I tried out a new anti-hairfall shampoo. That shampoo really helped to a great extent but it wasn't enough. I have noticed that when I'm under a lot of stress, I experience extra hairfall. But even when I'm not under stress my hair is quite thin. Why is this happening? Could it be genetics? My dad isn't bald. He's got curly hair, but he too experiences phases of hair loss. And his hair gets quite thin. But he only started to lose hair after he hit 40. My granddad is bald, but he became bald when he hit 60.
